Harouna Niass is a waste picker and recycler from Dakar, Senegal, who began working in the sector at the age of 25. Through his work, he has been able to sustain his family while building strong ties within his community of fellow recyclers.
As President of the Association Bokk Diom des Récupérateurs et Recycleurs, Harouna actively organizes waste pickers, supports collective structures, and promotes recognition of recyclers as workers. His leadership has contributed to the formation of women’s committees and cooperatives, strengthening solidarity and organization within the sector.
