From the International Alliance of Waste Pickers, we extend our fraternal solidarity to our comrades in Turkey who are mobilising today in Kadıköy against racism and for the dignity of all workers.
We are deeply moved by your decision to unite your struggle with our grief following the deaths of our fellow waste pickers at the Dar es Salam landfill in Guinea. We know that racism, discrimination and exploitation affect the most vulnerable workers first—those who work in the shadows and whose rights are too often ignored.
To our comrades in Turkey, we say: your struggle is our struggle, your dignity is our dignity. From Conakry to Kadıköy, through Buenos Aires, we are united by the same determination to defend the respect, justice, safety and dignity of all workers, regardless of origin, skin colour or nationality.
Our solidarity knows no borders.
There is no recycling without waste pickers.
There is no dignity without safety.
