Calgary Can is a non-profit organization that launched in 2012 to recognize our city’s informal recycling community (i.e. bottle pickers), as a community and environmental ASSET. We actively engage with Calgary’s bottle picking population to co-develop solutions to their daily challenges, while also helping other Calgarians understand their value and potential. We use human-centred design to co-develop appropriate, forward-thinking and economically sustainable solutions to the informal recyclers’ challenges, along with the people that live them daily.
