The upcoming congress is the IAWP’s first international elective congress, to elect the duty bearers of the organization. It is the final step in the process of becoming a formal entity, after having approved its constitution in October 2022.

The IAWP has 88 delegates attending its Congress, from 34 countries including Africa, Asia-Pacific, Europe, Latin America, North America. Observers and guests are also participating.

Only registered people can attend the Congress.
For the 1st day:
– The march is a public event.
– The Opening Plenary is for delegates and observers.
Days 2, and 3 are delegates’ only events, as delegates will be voting these two days.
Sessions of days 2 and 3 others will be virtually available on zoom only for delegates that were unable to attend due to visa constraints.
The presentation of IAWP on day 3 is a public event.
The thematic panels of day 5 will be streamed online in Youtube.
All guests are welcome to join us in our públic event on the 3rd, the 4th and the 5th included.

The International Alliance of Waste Pickers (IAWP) is an international union committed to advancing the rights and strengthening organizing of waste pickers.
It is made up of 50 waste picker organizations representing more than 460,000 workers across 34 countries.
